Either that, or the miles are shorter in NYC than they are in the rest of the country! I'll be honest, I really haven't been drinking much water, so the latter must be true. I'm in the city that never sleeps for the long holiday weekend and have maybe done a bit of partying. And what's my fave thing to do after a long night of drinking? Run!
As you can tell, I was kind of excited to be in the Big Apple. I attempted this photo twice...and hurt my feet when I landed on the pier. No matter, a little foot pain never slowed me down.
I was staying with one of my best friends in Long Island City just across the river from Manhattan. Long Island City is not Long Island, but Queens, obviously. This place is way too confusing for out of towners!
We ran from Long Island City to Roosevelt Island. I'd never heard of it before...but it is a very peaceful little island on the Hudson with incredible views of the city.
And an impressive memorial to its namesake, FDR. The island was very different from the bustling metropolis across the river, it was practically deserted.
This was a great run, and even though it was boiling hot outside, I rocked it. This was the fastest I've ever run this distance before. We ran 7 miles at a sub 10 minute pace! I killed it!
